088 | the hermit – liber 1 – metempsychosis

Broque Neuentdeckung The Hermit umweht eine Aura des Mysteriösen, was so auch zweifelsohne auf seine EP „Liber 1 – Metempsychosis“ zutrifft. Unser Neuzugang ist schon lange kein unbeschriebenes Blatt mehr und war bereits in den 90ern tief verwurzelt im Münchner Techno-Zirkus. Seine Vergangenheit soll an dieser Stelle aber genauso geheimnisvoll bleiben wie seine Musik. Nach einigen Jahren der kreativen Pause stellt „Liber 1 – Metempsychosis“ nämlich einen kompletten Neuanfang und musikalischen Richtungswechsel par Excellence dar. Gespickt mit vielschichtiger Symbolik und Referenzen, nicht zuletzt auf Okkultistenhäuptling Aleister Crowley und Kabbala, eröffnen die neuen acht Tracks einen atemberaubenden Kosmos aus Dub, Glitches, Electronica und polyrhythmischem Hip Hop, der zuweilen an eine waghalsige Mischung aus Adrian Sherwood, Autechre und King Tubby erinnert und dabei mit jedem Track aufs neue überrascht. Für den (Hip) Pop Appeal sorgen unter anderem auch Vocals, die dem ganzen wieder etwas irdische Bodenständigkeit verpassen. Jeder Track für sich erzählt eine ganz eigene, immer etwas unergründliche und doch mitreißende Geschichte, die bei jedem Hören neue Nuancen und Handlungsstränge aufzeigt. Und eben jene sind natürlich auch noch nicht zu Ende erzählt, so dass wir uns auch schon auf „Liber 2“ freuen dürfen.
